Penny Ntuli Stranded in Snowstorm on N3 Highway
South African radio presenter Penny Ntuli found herself stranded in a severe snowstorm on the N3 highway in KwaZulu-Natal over the weekend.
Travelling to Durban for a funeral, the 27-year-old radio personality and many other motorists were caught off guard by extreme weather conditions, which included heavy snow, freezing temperatures, and near-zero visibility.
Ntuli and her companions endured the harsh environment overnight in their cars. She reported on Facebook that families, the elderly, and even a pregnant woman had been trapped for over 16 hours without food, water, or proper heating.
Criticising the slow response of emergency services, Ntuli questioned why toll-paying motorists were left without adequate assistance.
As the ordeal dragged on, Ntuli’s health began to deteriorate. A family member later confirmed that after spending hours in the cold, she was taken to her mother’s house to recover. Despite rumours circulating about her condition, her family assured the public that she is alive, though still unwell.
Authorities eventually cleared the roads, but the incident raised significant concerns over the efficiency of government responses during extreme weather events.
